Bottled water question?

Will bottled water stay fresh as long as you don't open it? My boyfriend said that regular, bottled water will never "spoil" if its kept sealed the same way honey never goes bad. Is that true or not? If it is, are there stipulations? Like will certain temperatures make it spoil, etc.
