What does "joint stipulation" mean in court terms?

a stipulation is an agreement of fact. Many people use the term wrongly. As an agreement is necessarily "joint," calling it a "joint stipulation" is redundant. That leads me to believe that the term is meant to mean something else, but I could not guess at what the parties meant by that term.
