Question for Grandparents, would you change your behaviour in order to see your grandchildren?

My husband and I have been married almost 7 years and don't have any children. I have come to conclusion that if we did have children they would not be allowed around his mother as I feel she is a bad influence. ie: I have witnessed her exchange baby sitting services for illegal narcotics, defraud the government out of tens of thousands of dollars, and verbally and physically abuse her own children. I have left out all my problems I have with her but focus on her deliberate legal and moral deficiency. So the question is and is targeted to grandparents out of curiosity, if your visitation with your grandchildren were in jeopardy would you change your behaviour and attitude in order to see them or feel like since you are an adult you have the right to act as you please no one should put stipulations on it/
