Will a gynecologist rewrite a prescription for ocp's if you never filled it?

I was given 3 months worth of samples along with a prescription. I decided to hold off on filling the prescription until I was out of samples, and now that I'm almost out I have been looking for the prescription but can't find it. Does my doctor have any way of knowing that it was never filled so she can write a new one? Or will she think I am trying to get more for some reason? I obviously will be asking her myself eventually but I want to know any problems to expect.
